Villa Sapienza Hotel is located in Sanremo, the “City of Flowers”, known the world over for its pleasant climate year round, for its prestigious Casino and for the famous Festival of Italian Song. Villa Sapienza holds a privileged position on Corso Matuzia, where the most prestigious hotels in the city can be found, between Corso degli Inglesi and the Lungomare Imperatrice in the heart of Sanremo liberty.
From the end of the 1800s to mid 1900s it was the meca of an elite international clientele; kings and queens used to stay here, also poets and scientists, making it a fascinating mundane and cultural hub. The Corso degli Inglesi is dedicated to the many British nationals that made Sanremo the place to be at for prolonged summer and winter vacations to take advantage of the beneficial Rivieral climate. Testimonials to their presence here are still visible if you take a walk by the prestigious villas on the Corso with suggestive names such as the neo renaissance Villa Bel Respiro, today the Istituto Sperimentale per la Floricultura, the elegant Villa Vista Lieta, the very unusual Castello Devachan and many more.

The Lungomare Imperatrice is dedicated to Maria Alexandrovna, the last zarina of Russia who fell in love with Sanremo to such a point that she donated the palm trees that line this coastal road, a very pleasant stroll that culminates in the famous Casino. Built in 1905, it is still the hip place of Sanremo, the game tables attract not only gamblers but also VIP and international celebrities from the entertainment world.
The Sanremo of art and history can be found to the east of Villa Sapienza Hotel. It winds around “Pigna”, the medieval sector that goes down through narrow paths and streets to the Concattedrale di San Siro built in the 13th century and then towards Corso Felice Cavallotti, with important Liberty villas surrounded by lush gardens. Some of the most significant ones are Villa Nobel, residence of the famous Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel who died here in 1896 and Villa Ormondwith a very original garden that grows aromatic plants from all over the world.
A stay at Sanremo can be made even more enriching by shopping in the refined boutiques found in the centre, by wine and food degustation of Liguria recipes based on fish and very aromatic herbs, sea sport activities, from sailing to motor boat as well as sports practised on land like tennis and golf.
